چکیده
Abstract Objectives Nearly 100% of North American women have detectable levels flame retardants such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in their plasma. These molecules structural homology to thyroid hormones and may function endocrine disruptors. Thyroid dysfunction has previously been associated with increased risk for preterm birth. Therefore, we conducted a multi-center, case-cohort study evaluate if high plasma concentrations common PBDE congener the first trimester increases birth its subtypes. Methods Pregnant were recruited at onset initiation prenatal care Kaiser-Permanente Southern California (KPSC)-West Los Angeles KPSC-San Diego medical centers. Plasma samples from whose pregnancies ended random subset those delivering term assayed PBDE-47 thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) by immunoassay. Quartile cutoffs calculated patients used determine exposures 4th quartile are using logistic regression. Results We found that significantly odds both indicated (adjusted ratio, adjOR=2.35, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.31, 4.21) spontaneous (adjOR=1.76, CI: 1.02, 3.03) Regardless pregnancy outcome, TSH did not differ between low PBDE-47. Conclusions results suggest trimester,

P-188: Vaginal Progesterone Effects for The Prevention of Preterm Birth and Neonatal Complications in Women at Increased Risk: A Randomized Placebo- Controlled Double-Blind Study
Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of prophylactic vaginal progesterone in decreasing preterm birth rate and neonatal complications in a high-risk population. Materials and Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo- controlled study included 100 high-risk singleton pregnancies( prior preterm birth, short cervix, uterine malformations and large intramural uterine m...
متن کاملHospital admission for hyperemesis gravidarum in women at increased risk of spontaneous preterm birth
BACKGROUND Progesterone administration prevents spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) in women at increased risk. Progesterone concentration is lower in women with subsequent sPTB. Conversely, high concentrations of progesterone are implicated in the pathogenesis of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). We hypothesized that women at increased risk of sPTB or spontaneous late miscarriage would be less likely ...
متن کاملAntenatal Dexamethasone For Women at Risk af Preterm Birth and Intraventricular Haemorrhage: What is the Truth?
Administration of antenatal corticosteroids to pregnant women with imminent delivery of a newborn at 24 to 34 weeks of gestation represents one of the most important advances in perinatal medicine in the past 25 years1,2. A single course of antenatal steroid has been associated with a decrease in acute neonatal systemic morbidity and mortality after preterm birth reducing the risk of respirator...

متن کاملNatural history of cervical funneling in women at high risk for spontaneous preterm birth.
OBJECTIVE To estimate the natural history of funneling in the second trimester by transvaginal ultrasonograms and whether funneling increases the risk of spontaneous birth. METHODS Secondary analysis of a blinded, multi-center observational study of women with at least one prior spontaneous preterm birth at 16.0-31.9 weeks who subsequently carried singleton gestations. Cervical length, funnel...
